Note: Although not required, it is a good idea to watch UC related Gundams to help you understand more how a Newtype works. The original Gundam 0079 should suffice (but I urge you people to watch more, Z Gundam and V Gundam were reknowned ‘sequels’ and it would worth of your time to see it), since it will help you why the Colonies were fighting against the Earth Federation (the parallelism and the backbone of Gundam X’s story) in the first place.

GX Terminologies:

Certain GX terms you should know about. I don’t think if this will be useful, but what the heck, I might as well add them in to help you understand GX more.

Newtype: Whenever there is a Gundam Show, it usually features Newtypes (with the exception of G Gundam, Gundam Wing and Turn-A Gundam). Originally an ideology created by Zeon Daikun, the “founder” of the Principality of Zeon from the Universal Century series. Newtypes were “an advanced form of human beings who conformed in the environment of space”. The word itself seems to separate itself into three meanings:

1.      Military: People with extraordinary reflexes and precognition, with also an uncanny ability to predict his enemies’ moves.

2.      Scientific: Certain individuals who researched on these Newtypes conclude that in addition with sharp reflexes and precognition, they can also control certain weapons called “bits” or “funnels” as a physical extension of their minds. They also conclude that people who discover their Newtype gifts were usually through the stress of war and fighting they subject themselves into.

3.      Spacenoid: (i.e. the people who lived in the Colony) Anyone who lived in space. Since they claim they were a “Newtype Elite” they have no reason to follow the Earth government’s rule.

Oldtype: Ordinary people or people who lived on Earth.

Artificial Newtype: The UC equivalent of “Enhanced Humans”. AN were ordinary people who underwent special treatment in order to have the “power” of a Newtype. The downside of this is that these people were prone for mental instabilities. Such as insanity, loss of memory and moody tempers. Caris Nautilus doesn’t show any of these symptoms although he has a sickness (Synapse Syndrome, think having a stroke, only worse).

Category F: First introduced in GX. These are people who were “rejects” , or people who can’t make the standards as the ideal Newtype (i.e. Can’t use the Flash System or the like).

Bits: Weapons controlled mentally by a Newtype. Can attack anywhere and everywhere whenever its master wills it to. Think small dangerous air planes controlled by a single person.

G-Bits: Bits, but this time unmanned mecha/s controlled by a single Newtype.

Microwave: Used as a form of communication link-up between space and Earth, the microwave in GX carries the energy laser to “charge” GX-9900’s Satellite Cannon.

Satellite System: Allows the Gundam X to use the Satellite Cannon

Flash System: Allows the Newtype pilot to control the G-Bits.

Mobile Suits: Since the creation of the Vernier Engine, the machines that uses it produces “Minovsky particles”. These particles seriously hampers radar and other long-range detectors. It became imperative to produce mecha designed for close combat. MS are any “human shaped” mecha that has a head, a body, legs and arms. The Gundams are an example of Mobile Suit.

Mobile Armor: any mecha that is not “human shaped”. The Patouria and the Grandine are examples of Mobile Armor.

Any more terminologies you’d want me to add? Please send it through e-mail and I’m sure I’d put it in as well as your name in it! ^_^
